Shweta Gulati

If the forthcoming Amber Dhara promises to be a first-of-its-kind serial based on a story of conjoined sisters, then Shweta Gulatis character, Sonya Jaiswal in the show is also one of its kind, according to the actor.

I play this rich spoiled brat with loads of oomph and ego. But unlike the other vamps you see on television who like to make other peoples lives miserable without any rhyme or reason, I exhibit very normal emotions.that is plain envy and jealously when the twins Amber And Dhara beat me in studies and music in college. It is something we have all experienced in our lives, and that includes me. Sonya is a very normal person with grey shades, something rare on TV, where either you are painted as black or white, effuses the very petite looking actor.

A pretty and popular face on television, Shweta best known as Juhi of Shagun, Tara of Lipstick, Tia of Remix and Priyanka of Durgesh Nandani, Shweta is a perfect example of having entered the glamour industry by chance.
Working in a call centre with no dreams of seeing herself on screen, Shweta strayed into modelling when she was offered an ICICI ad campaign.

Despite loud protests from my dad, I told him that I would do just one ad and no more. But doing one ad just turned out to be the beginning! One led to another, and soon I landed up doing almost a dozen, she smiles mischievously.
The same protest came from her father when she was offered Shagun, her first television serial, and once again she silenced him saying that only one and no more. But of course it did not end there! The response to Juhi (my character) and the recognition I got was so overwhelming that he could not help, but gave in! So here I am doing serials since the last four years.

But the next step is not films, Shweta declares loudly even before I can ask her the questionfor as she says. Television has given me a lot, and I dont want to exchange it for the struggle, and the small parts I may get in films. I like facing the camera, and whether it is for the big screen or small, it does not matter to me. And now with Amber Dhara, things are really looking up, she says with a grin. An independent young girl, Shweta stays on her own despite her parents also living in Mumbai.

An avid reader of fiction, she loves to paint, if not catching up with friends over butter chicken and chicken coriander soup! I make it a point to work only 15 days a month so that I have enough time to do my own thing. I also love cuddling up and sleeping for long hours, pampering myself by buying a whole lot of clothes or simply playing with my pet dogs Feebie and Messy, she says happily.
